Pomodoro Technique (Not the Sauce)

Are you one of those naturally organized people who always makes a daily to-do list, who always writes everything down so you won’t forget, and who never misses a deadline because you keep track of everything with your handy time-management notebook or your palm?  Or are you one of those flexible, creative, go-with-the-flow people who dislike planning and organizing because it restricts your freedom, energy, and performance?  Some people are natural planners. They love it and can only see the benefits of planning, while others can be major procrastinators that leave everything to the last second.  Given the global pandemic we are currently facing, it can be difficult to get work done from home. I have been reading different tips and tricks on staying productive at home, but I found the following to be the most useful.  We all know there is a set amount of hours in each day to get our work done. We all also know that there are certain people or thing...

The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is a bittersweet   love story between two characters, Christine and Raoul. Christine lives happily with Raoul not knowing that the angel of music is in love with her, also known as “ The Phantom”. The phantom wears a mask to hide his deformity. Despite his imperfections on the outside, the Phantom is a musical genius and shares a lot in common with Christine. The Phantom later develops a strong attachment to Christine while she’s in love with Raoul, and tries to find a way to marry Christine. Other than the fact that it’s my favorite movie, the phantom of the opera is known for its beautiful and captivating soundtrack. One of my favorite songs are “All I Ask Of you, Think Of Me, and Wishing You Were Somehow Here”. My biggest dream is to watch the Phantom of the Opera live on broadway. The first time watching the Phantom of the Opera, I found myself looking deeper into the melody, the lyrics, and the rhythm. The Phantom of the Opera i...

Quarantine 2020

Five months now into 2020, plans have been entirely changed and countries have been on lock down for about two months now. It forces us to come to terms with our panic, fears and the unknown. A month ago I was struggling with believing that this new way of life is our new normal. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. From a working woman, to now a house wife, experiencing early retirement. Slowly forgetting what it is like to go out in the world worry free. If this quarentine has taught me anything is to be appreciative of the small things in life, and be thankful for whatever is happening. How often do we get a chance to spend time with our families, pets, and children? How often do we get a chance to fully dedicate our time to our hobbies?  However, the catch is, you don't have to be productive in order to feel like your disciplined with time. The world is very uncertain, and maybe not worrying about your productivity level would make your mental health better. Som...

Wicked the Musical

One of my  teachers, Mr. Hale, advised me to attend one of his favorite musical concerts after asking for his opinion. “Wicked” is one of the most known musicals in New York City and I chose to write about it for my paper. The amazing music was composed by Stephen Schwartz and the lyrics as well. Also, there is a book written by Winnie Holzman about the story of the witches of Oz. Both musical and the book are based on a novel that has been written by Gregory Maguire. The musical Wicked tells a story about two witches and events happened before Dorothy arrives to Oz. Elphaba is the main character in the musical and the role was played by Anne Brummel. She is the wicked witch of the West. She has the most significant vocals ever. Whereas, Glinda is the second main character and the role was played by Jenni Barber. She is the good witch of the North. I was expecting to hear a combination of scary melodies related to the ti...
